ROYAL RUDES, a reggae group from SAN ANDRES ISLAND, offers an
original opus with lyrics in English or Spanish, inspired by the Rasta
philosophy and with music influenced by the Afro-Caribbean rhythms,
mixing "reggae roots", "dance hall" and "ska" in a unique sound.
Their adventure started in 2010 when Ricardo Newball, dedicated to ensure
the recognition of the skills and originality of local reggae artists, invited
six of the best musicians of the Island to work together to form a band.
Talent, complicity and charisma did the rest: the mix is perfect!.. and their
energy did get crowds up and moving at their concerts. With more than 400
shows on regional stages, ROYAL RUDES established themselves as the
best Reggae group in San Andres.
2013 was to be their pivotal year:
In April, ROYAL RUDES is chosen the best Reggae Group in South America
by winning the grand finale of "Rototom Latino Contest", in Buenos Aires,
Argentina. This feat was followed in August by an invitation to perform on
the mainstage of the most important reggae festival of Europe: "Rototom
Sunsplash" in Benicassim, Spain. In November, Royal Rudes got two
nominations for best reggae song: one for "FREEDOM" in the "Premios
Shock Tigo 2013" in Bogota, the second for "WHAT YOU GONNA DO " in
the ENAI prize in San Andres.
